Coach Jeff has helped hundreds of kids throughout the country learn the fundamentals
of basketball in a way that the players understand. He has the unique ability to quickly assess those
fundamentals that a player needs to improve on and then explain not only what is wrong but why it is
wrong. “Coaches are always telling players how they need to improve, but they rarely give them correct
principles as well as reasons why they need to improve. If a player doesn’t understand the why, then
they will continue with their bad habits. It is my belief that when players understand what they are
doing wrong and why it is incorrect, they will then start to implement the correct principles that
they are taught. They will then also be able to feel when they are shooting correctly or incorrectly.
This self-analysis is the way that a player can continue improving on their own when I am not around.
— Coach Jeff Eakins
Coach Jeff has helped my son go from sitting the bench his Freshman year to playing the entire game on the JV team as a sophomore! His personal instruction not only helped his game physically, but he built my son’s confidence on the court as well as in the classroom!
— David Timmons, Nampa, ID
I was a good player in High School, but I really needed to improve my shot as well as other parts of my game when I got to college. As someone who has been there before, Coach Jeff helped me to understand what it would take to be a good player in college as well as know what level of play would be expected. He helped me tremendously.
— Aaron Snooks, TVCC
Thanks to Coach Jeff, I received the instruction I needed to not only improve my shot, but also my abilities in the key and finishing strong. I was first team All State and got recruited by local colleges!
— Tanner Owens, Hagerman H.S.
My coaches were always telling me that I needed to work on my shot, but they never knew how to help me improve it! Within five minutes, Coach Jeff analyzed what I was doing wrong, but also explained it to me in a way that made sense! By the end of our first hour, I could already tell what my bad habits were and knew how to fix my shot! He is a blessing to the game!
"My son has attended numerous basketball camps, and has been personally instructed by several coaches and players, including a professional basketball player. Jeff Eakins' breakdown of the individual components of each basketball fundamental skill, his clarity of instruction, his warm, encouraging personality, and his commitment to proper court behavior benefitted my son more than any other instruction he has received."

Those in the clinics will be able to learn the techniques and then analyze what they are doing right and wrong through self-analysis due to special techniques taught exclusively by Coach Jeff. Coach Jeff is already developing many players here in the Maryland area including local college players, high school and junior high players. These sessions are filling up fast and once they are full, extra players will be put on a waiting list. For more information, contact Coach Jeff at coachjeff@shotdoctor.org.
Coach Jeff has developed a continuous 12 week development program to teach ALL aspects of the game. This program is specifically designed to develop players from elementary school age through the college level. Development includes classroom instruction and video breakdown which transfers to the court. This helps the players "see" what they need to be doing before they hit the court for practice.
This specialized program is like no other in the country and is designed to work with players year-round developing them for the next level. A player can start developing in this program while in elementary school and continue all the way up to college! The program includes:
1 week : player analysis for strengths and weaknesses
4 weeks : Shot 101 - detailed shot analysis and instruction
7 weeks : ball-handling, shooting, wing play, post play, point play, offense, defense, game-situation play
This program is segmented by age and player ability to help individuals learn with their peers. Groups are broken down into those players going into 4th-6th grade, 7th-9th grade, and 10th-12th grade. Once the player has graduated from the 4 week Shot 101 course, they will enter the 7 week fundamentals program. The program is designed to increase in difficulty and skill level as they progress year to year.
Development sessions are designed to hold a maximum of 15 players per session. This allows plenty of personal attention from Coach Jeff and Coach George at 7-8 players per coach. As sessions fill up, players will be added to a waiting list until another session is filled and ready to start. IBA is connected with your High School Coach
Coach Jeff has developed relationships with many high school coaches throughout the state of Maryland who endorse this program. They have asked for help in the development of their players and programs. In doing so, Coach Jeff has developed a system of keeping young players in front of high school coaches in order to help them when trying out for the team. IBA has the ability to keep the stats of each player as well as comments on their strengths and weaknesses on their own individual player profile. These player profiles are accessible by the high school coach of the high school that player will be attending.
Once a month, Coach Jeff will measure the progress of
each player in ball handling, shooting percentage, offense and defensive skills,
as well as other parts of their game along with comments about strengths and
weaknesses in order to help their high school coach know more about the players
who are the future of their program!
"I encourage my players to work with Coach Jeff and
develop their fundamentals through the IBA program. He has worked with my
players and I have seen the growth and improvements on the court. I encourage
players of ages who want to become better players and want to play at a higher
level in high school and college to work their way up through IBA" - Coach Cooper- Urbana High School
Power, Speed and Agility Training
All athletes need to get bigger, stronger and faster in order to become and stay competitive. Power, Speed, and Agility training needs to start at an early age.
Whether you play basketball or not, all athletes need to get bigger,
stronger and faster in order to become and stay competitive. Power, Speed, and
Agility training needs to start at an early age. IBA has its own weight training
facility in which the athletes are able to train on equipment found in local
training facilities but are not accessible to the younger athletes. Coach George
specializes in weight training as well as speed and agility training for
athletes in 4th grade up through the college ranks. Having been a
personal strength trainer to athletes of all ages for a number of years, Coach
George has the ability to develop the young athlete physically to maximize peak
performance. It is also something that needs to be done year round, whatever the
sport is. While other programs are quick 2 or 3 day camps with large groups of
kids, IBA has the ability personally train and develop your athlete throughout
the year giving them personal attention! To learn more click here.
